Hard rocking mutha-truckers!

Florida's Dirty DNA come bounding out with fists swinging and taking no prisoners with their no-holds-barred rock music sound, that takes punchy punk rock influences and smears it with trashy glam rock lyrics. Here we have a little taster of what is to come on their first release 'Skeleton Sex Scandal' which is due out later in the year.

First song, 'American Sex Slave' comes out with the swagger and balls of US Bombs with a hint of sleaze, and this sets us up for what we are about to hear. There are pounding drums and riff-tastic guitars on 'World Destruction' with a sound that is in the same direction as Moistboyz. We then have a more alternative sound with chunky basslines on 'Isolation' which could be best described as a cross between Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Newlydeads, which isn't to say that they sound like either band, but have the funk, mixed with an undertone of sleaze/industrial guitars and vocals.

Now 'Lot Lizard' is a corker of a song, starting off with the infamous line from National Lampoon's Vacation, of Audrey saying to her cousin, "I'm going steady, and I French kiss," Vicki then says, "So? Everybody does that!" to which Audrey replies, "Yeah, but Daddy says that I'm the best at it!" Lead singer Frank 'Crime' Cassara jumps in with, "Gimme, gimme, gimme // Gimme gimme a white trash girl!". This is a trashy and sleazy rock song pumped up with male testosterone until it is about to explode, however whereas the glam songs of the late 80's/early 90's had high vocals and twiddling guitars, this has heavy guitar riffs and rasping vocals. It's a hum-dinging, tit-sucking, beer-swigging, mutha-trucker of a song! There is even a sneaky riff at the end of Lynyrd Skynryds 'Sweet Home Alabama'! Any song with even a hint of them good ol' Southern boys is just fine and dandy with me, y'all!

Next up is 'Hell On Wheels' a song that is a little Motorhead when they have been pumping shots of JD back with Motley Crue. We then have another movie quote, this time from Dennis Hopper in the controversial cult classic Blue Velvet, when he loudly sneers, "Let's F*ck! I'll F*ck anything that moves!" Cue some fast paced drumming and it's almost a rockabilly number with more rock'n'roll and gang-shouting chorus, in the great, 'Sexxxo Strange-O'.

'Point Of Insanity' is more punk than anything else and we have a more polished version of US Bombs again, before the high tempo, 'Down & Out' sees us out with another punk influenced number, with flashes of sleazy rock, in a formula that certainly works.

Dirty DNA are a band that take all of the best aspects of glam/AOR rock from the late 80's/early 90's, and bring it up to date with added aggression, showing that men no longer dress like girls, and the ones that do are skinny and like emo so they have their own issues...This is men's rock! It's not gloomy like metal. It doesn't try to be funny, sweet or political like any of the punk genres. It's good old fashioned hard rock with rock'n'roll influence, stories of sex, drink and drugs and being tough. It's good time rock, and it's about time it was re-vamped and brought back. Dirty DNA, we salute you!
